David Clarke

David originally trained as a Quantity Surveyor, rising to Managing Director in the freelance practice. In 1989, he joined the family demolition company as a Director and subsequently assumed the role of Managing Director in 1992. He is presently the Managing Director of Clarke Demolition Company Ltd.

He has overall responsibility for the company tendering process for new work and the development of the submission documentation. He has daily contact with the other directors, contract managers and site managers, ensuring a high level of communication is maintained throughout the organisation.

As is usual with SMEs of this size, David also is involved with the expansion of the client base, establishment of corporate strategy and has overall responsibility for the integrated management system within the organisation which includes Quality, Environment and Health and Safety.

David is a Member of the Institute of Directors and a Member of the Institute of Demolition Engineers.

He was Chairman of the London and Southern Region of the National Federation of Demolition Contractors from 1997-99. In 2003, he was elected National Vice President, rising to President before retiring from this post in March 2007 when he received the Federation`s ultimate recognition of being made an Honorary Life Vice President.

Subsequently he served as Chairman of the National Demolition Training Group from 2007-2010 and has been responsible for turning that organisation into the leading provider for training in the UK Demolition Industry.

Presently he sits on the Executive Management Committee for the NFDC and represents the Federation on the board of the United Kingdom Contractors Group (UKCG)..

Among his qualifications, he is a Certificated Demolition Contract Manager through NDTG/ConstructionSkills, an ARCA (Asbestos Removal Contractors Association) accredited Asbestos Removal Contracts Manager and achieved certification for both the NDTG/NFDC Directors Responsibility and Liability Course and the ARCA Director and Senior Manager Responsiblity and Liability course.
